Holy Smokes! What a story. I couldn`t put this one down from cover to cover. The suspense and danger never stopped while the lives of the characters were absolutely unforgettable. Ruggle develops her tale in a manner that allows readers to experience it, not simply to read about it. The narrative was brilliantly crafted, increasing the tension throughout. The realistic feel of the events made it even better. The sexual tension between the main characters is hot! Hot! Hot! The author built the chemistry and background to a fever pitch before adding the physical relationship. It was perfect. Rory is definitely a unique heroine for this tale. Her life is so atypical. At the same time her sentiments are easy to understand. Readers really get to see how routine oriented Rory is. What can you say about Ian? He’s the perfect hero, without being too perfect. The complex line that he walks adds fuel to the story. My heart broke for him when he finally realized what he lost, but also what he gained from it. This was the perfect second instalment in a series that I definitely can’t wait to read more from! Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

    More drama, suspense and romance

Who knew that a small mountain town like Simpson could be such a hotbed of criminal activity, murder and intrigue? I'm really loving this series, especially the heroines and wish I didn't have to wait so long for the next book. FAN THE FLAMES continues from where Hold Your Breath ends and improves on the drama, suspense and action but also throws in a good dose of humor to lighten the tension. The interactions between Ian and Rory left me in stitches but I like that Ms. Ruggle gave us characters that were unexpected and endearing. Ian Walsh is a man with his loyalties split between his firefighting brethren and the motorcycle club that he grew up in, but the one thing that's not in question is his feelings for Rory Sorenson and his total dedication to her. He's been named a person of interest in the murder case that has captivated the entire town, but he'll defend her to the death when his MC Brothers decide to attack her, a choice that pits him against his club. Rory grew up off the grid with paranoid survivalists for parents, an upbringing that has left her socially awkward and out of her element with everyday interactions, especially with the man she's had a crush on since she was a pre-teen, but one thing she isn't is helpless and that's a lesson anyone who wants to take advantage of her learns the hard way. As the owner of a gun shop, she does business with the less than savory side of humanity and knows that she has to be tough to deal with her criminally minded customers, but it helps to have someone at her back. Rory and Ian are an unlikely pairing but are perfect for each other. With his looks and associations, one would expect Ian to be a cocky know-it-all, but he's really a patient and determined man who was quite adept at handling Rory. He really deserves the moniker of 'Rory-whisperer' because dealing with her at times was like trying to domesticate a wild cat. Rory is fiercely independent and self-reliant but I liked seeing her take a chance and connect with new friends for the first time, as well as realize that there was a life outside her bunker within a community that respected her and would come to her aid when she needed help. One thing I enjoy about this series is that the relationship drama is really low, which balances out all the other action going on. While the books in this series are all stand alone, there is an overarching mystery that runs through the series, so I would recommend reading in order for the best experience. Disclaimer: I received this book for free from the Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Ian Walsh is used to riding the line between the good guys and the bad and he’s be in love with Rory Sorenson since they were kids in fact he would do anything for her, die for her, kill for her, defend her to his last breath which he just may have to do in this exhilarating romantic suspense. Everyone knows that if you need a less-than-legal firearm, Rory is the go-to girl and she’s managed to keep the peace between dangerous factions by remaining strictly neutral until she defends herself against a brutal attack and the readers can’t help but become glued to the story as danger and romance heat up the pages. The chemistry between Rory and Ian is definitely enough to heat up the pages on its own but this relationship has a few obstacles that not only captures readers by the heart but enthralls readers with the intricate dance that Ian has to waltz to get close to Rory and overcome her social awkwardness. The characters are strong, compelling and easily related to, while the plot is fast paced and flows smoothly from beginning to end with lots of suspense and romance. The relationship itself is worthy of some anticipation filled tension which keeps draws readers in but when the excitement and suspense is added the story really gets things going as the dangers escalates and the things began to unravel for both of the main characters causing them to have depend on each other because the headless body that was found in book one is causing more than enough mayhem as everyone becomes caught in a deadly web of deception. Rory is quite the character, she provides a refreshingly different personality to the story that guaranteed I wanted to know how things worked out for her as well wanting to get to know her and as for Ian…the opposing sides of his life added spice and just made him sexier.
