    Seasonal Suspense

Jess has been through a lot in the last year and now that things have settled down, she looks forward to marrying Jack right after Christmas. But, the universe has more in store for Jess with the arrival of two long-lost relatives and more danger towards those that she loves most. I enjoyed this novel very much – it had romance, thrills, and a little bit of tears. I was provided a free advance copy of this book in return for an honest review and I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed this holiday thriller.

    Complete read

This was a good book which kept you turning the pages till the very end. There is romance, and love, on many levels. The mystery and dark side of life is well written and fits the story, nothing seemed to be unnecessary. I loved the characters who were very believable and you can really feel for their problems. Being a Chocolate Lit story, yes it all comes right in the end, but a gorgeous Christmas read which will ensure you manage to find a few minutes here and there for you in this busy time.

    Very nice

This book is a sequel to 'House of secrets'. I was a bit afraid that I would not be able to follow the story because I did not read part one. But there was no need to worry. In this book you receive the right amount of explanation without it being to revealing. It makes you only want to read the first book as well. It was very fluently written and once I opened the book, it was very difficult to put it down. If you are looking for a book filled with love (but not the sickly sweet kind) mixed with a dose of suspense, you will enjoy this one. Please, dear author, tell me you are working on part 3

It was meant to be a quiet family Christmas ...

LYNDA STACEY This is an rollercoaster of emotions and an action packed sequel to House of Secrets. I haven't read the previous book and admit there were times when I wondered what exactly had happened because scenes are mentioned but I had no way of relating to. Saying that this is a magnificent read - involving more family secrets, the passing away of Emily (the original owner) and how different families are brought together for Christmas at the beautifully described and decorated Wrea Head Hall, near Scarborough) Maddie has taken over the running of the hall alongside her Husband, Bandit, who is Emily's grandson. Her sad passing leaves them all heartbroken. There are still some family secrets untold, but with the determination that there should be no more secrets in the house, Emily writes four separate letters - which are hidden and not found until Jess clears out her room. Jess, is Maddie's sister, although there are from very distinct differences between them - the girls have never let it get in the way and have never raised it between them. One cold winter evening, on the day of Emily's funeral, a man and his daughter arrive at the hall. They are wet and soaked to the bone. Just as Bastion is about to leave, with Lily, he is spotted by Nomsa, who works at the Hall. Nomsa invites them both in to dry and have a hot drink. Jess, Jack, Bastion and Maddie return to the Hall. Jess is having trouble breathing and asks the car to stop. She gets out and hears a noise - footsteps which make her turn. There before her stands a tall man, whom she has a brief recolection of, but then watches in horror as he collapses in a heap on the steps. After a second scream, this time from little Lily, it's all systems go with Jack calling an ambulance and Bandit checking for a pulse. Lily tugs at Jess' skirt and tells her that Bastion isn't a guest at the hotel, but that they had come to find her, because he is Jess' Daddy and she is her sister. Back in London, Annie, who is Lily's Mum, is causing destruction where ever she goes. The reason behind Bastion and Lily's quick departure is due to Annie clearing out the flat (for the 2nd time) and literally taking everything - except for Lily - leaving her in the middle of the Hall, cold an crying. Annie is a prostitute and left her family to be with one of the pimps. Bastion had no idea of her "career" and at the time had pleaded with her not to go, but she went and it was then where she was introduced to drugs and became an addict. Annie has nothing else on her mind except for feeding her drug addiction and will stop at nothing to get her next fix. The events that lead up to her arriving at Wrea Head Hall are shocking and something a parent would never do. Having a 4 year old I found some scenes difficult to read but purely for the reason that no 4 year old should have to see or hear certain things and her build up to Christmas should definitely not include being kidnapped by her Mummy and taken to a grotty motel. I will leave my review here and let you read what happens to everyone involved in this action packed novel.
