    A most satisfying romance

Isobel Glasen never thought she’d see Alec Russell in Wyoming! They had known each other in Pittsburgh when Isobel had been engaged to his older brother Whitman, and it should have been the end of it. But Alec had to buy the shop she wanted to expand her own business! Alec must make his veterinarian clinic a success if he is to impress his father, and for once not remain in the shadow of Whitman. Unfortunately, the shop he bought is just next door to Isobel, whom he had wished to court, and who had once again, chosen Whitman over him. Alec will never be second best to nothing or no one, ever again. Oh my, what a perfectly marvellous story this is! My interest in Isobel kept growing with every book of the series, and I was thrilled just knowing that this was her book, and what a triumph it is! Among others, one of Stacy Henrie’s strengths as an author is as a storyteller of the life of ordinary people. While they are not poor, Isobel and Alec are both working people, and Ms. Henrie shows us how it really was, in this case in 1902 Wyoming. The author’s eloquence is again stunning, especially in the Race for a Bride, and in all those mundane details that make the surroundings and the characters come alive. Alec has worked hard, yet he is very insecure because of always being overshadowed by his older brother, and Isobel has dreams of her own that she dares not try for fear of failing. It is wonderful to watch Alec and Isobel help each other in spite of how uncomfortable they are around each other at first. I detest the word “heartwarming” because, to me, it often means mushy and sickeningly sweet, but THEIR WYOMING COURTSHIP AGREEMENT truly is heartwarming, as well as heartbreaking. I was having a bad day when I started this book, and as I quickly became immersed in the story, my worries were forgotten; I felt comforted and safe. Believe me, fake sentimentality never does that for me. I was enveloped in the genuine kindness and goodwill Isobel and Alec show towards each other, and their willingness to eventually acknowledge that that there is more between them. THEIR WYOMING COURSTHIP AGREEMENT is a brilliantly written story that digs beneath the surface, far deeper than the blurb would have us think. And how wonderful it is to have an author who leaves nothing to chance and who knows how to plot her story down to the most minute detail, and lets her characters grow naturally. The premise for THEIR WYOMING COURTSHIP AGREEMENT might first appear somewhat innocuous, but this romance is one of the most satisfying I have read in a very, very long time because the foundation is solid and it is written with great care, and with respect for the characters and the reader’s intelligence. I could not have asked for a better story from the always outstanding Stacy Henrie.
