Instant attraction one night stand hockey romance

Winning It All is a sports romance about a hockey player and a yoga instructor who fall for each other, despite personal differences about hockey players, after an instant attraction in what is supposed to only be a one night stand. This was my first time reading a book by Victoria Denault and I definitely enjoyed it being a sports romance fan and having been drawn in by the blurb. This book is part of a series and other characters previously obviously pop up but I personally haven’t read any other books in the series and followed along no problem, allowing this to be read as a true standalone read. Told from dual points of views, the two main characters, Sebastian and Shayne, have a more than obvious attraction that instantly has you supporting this couple, despite their glaringly obvious different views towards hockey. The chemistry that continues to build between the two is definitely steamy, yet also continues to maintain sweet elements that fit in with the characters’ true selves where they can’t resist the chemistry between them. While Sebastian and Shayne appear as strong unique characters, we do also get to see their more vulnerable sides at times with very real emotion, giving both characters a very realistic feel to them as they deal with facing tough choices, especially in dealing in trusting in their budding relationship that builds at a steady pace. The secondary characters also helped add another dimension to these characters, building more developed characters and emotions. Winning It All is a well written book that is steadily paced with a good flow with the alternating chapter view points. The book had a good balance with enough drama and tension that bubbles along throughout without being drawn out unnecessarily and plenty of steamy scenes. I’m not a hockey fan so I can’t comment on that aspect of this sports romance and it’s accuracies but as a novice I could follow along with the sports side of things easily enough. The epilogue and HEA gave this story a well rounded finish, which tied up any remaining questions left. Overall, I would definitely recommend this book, especially to any sports romance fans out there. *I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.
