  • Didn't work for me

Note: This novella stands on its own, but does reference characters from a previous book – so this is best listened to in order. CW: Threats of rape and an attempted rape. Review will mention this. This one didn’t work well for me. I felt like Bree & Derek had great chemistry and I liked the action/suspense aspect, but the physical romance was in odd places. While I appreciate a hero who doesn’t jump at the chance to have sex with the heroine, but the reason Derek had to turn Bree down is because she kept instigating things where I struggle to believe any heroine would. On an open air platform while camping amongst their captives and in a hut right after same captives threatened to rape her did not feel romantic at all. I couldn’t get past that. I did like the way Martin wrapped things up. Narration: James Anderson Foster did a good job again.

    Thanks for your feedback!
