  • A Work in Progress

This book is about two different things, a man struggling with himself seemingly wanting to return to being the nice young man he once was and at the same time trying to get across random leadership lessons a framework seemingly he cannot himself comply with. There is no doubt his achievements are immense, these are gained from his shear tenacity and strength of mind. In his private life he clearly struggles, a self confessed drink driver and brawler. Much of his leadership is not transferable to everyday life. I'm not convinced good leaders are made not born. Anyone who is good at anything has innate skills, nature and nurture are around 50 50. The Ant Middleton story is one of disappointment, he needs to give it more of a conclusion, the leadership lessons could be replaced by the mistakes I made were........ Maybe he should have a separate book looking at leadership and examining various leaders and commenting on their qualities. Altogether a bit of a depressing read.

  • Awesome

Listened to this in a day. Completely mesmerised by Ants experiences and open honesty. Hope to read (listen) to more from him be it fact or fiction in the future.

  • Interesting read

Very readable book about someone who seems to justify to himself some very antisocial behaviour. If you can stand the authors ability to forgive himself then it's an interesting yarn. However, don't expect great insights as he preaches a lot of common life philosophies but tends to ignore them at will. However, at least he seems to be honest about it.

  • Good listen

An enjoyable memoir where I learned quite a few things that I didn’t know before about him

  • A life lived

Enjoyed it because of the lessons he has learned from difficult events in his life. Not my usual listen (never read any of the usual SAS etc books). Narration not as good as professional narrators obviously but I’d always prefer a book to be read by the author, especially for a biographical book.
