  • A definitive must-read.

Harry Potter isn’t an ordinary orphan – he is a wizard. Finding out his true origins on his eleventh birthday, Harry is then sent off to Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to learn how to use the magic he was born with. Of course, the tragic circumstances that had landed him with his very unpleasant relatives haunts him in the form of the villain who had murdered his parents and his followers who want to rise to power again. I like how Harry needs Ron and Hermione to be the hero – that he isn’t this perfect boy who can do everything on his own. My favourite characters are, of course, the Weasley twins. The world-building is excellent and myths and folklore are cleverly used. Though the writing could do with more polish (head-hopping in scenes being one issue), it is still a gripping read with great narrative flow. I enjoy reading this book now as much as I had when I had first read it about twenty years ago. A definitive must-read.

    Thanks for your feedback!
