  • One of my favourite books this year

I absolutely loved this book, one of my favourites I've read/listened to this year, so much fun with a really warm feeling, such fabulous characters - apart from George, the idiot ex-husband of Marina. And read to perfection by Imogen Church. Clem and Ronan work together selling property in Cornwall and are great friends, but nothing more. Then Clem's step-sister, Belle, arrives back in Cornwall as her new boyfriend, Sam, is looking for a property and she wants Clem to help. There has always been a bit of a jealous sisterly relationship between the two sisters, along with bickering and one-upmanship, which started when Clem's (poor) mother married Belle's (rich) father when they were both 16. As it turns out Clem met Belle's new boyfriend on a fight once, years ago, and sparks flew but the circumstances were wrong at the time and they didn't meet up after. Due to a sisterly disaster in their teens, both girls have promised never to go after each others boyfriends and have stuck to that promise since. There are various other characters, including the lovely gentle Marina who paints pictures for the tourists and fabulous Josephine (Ronan's adopted Mum). There are lots of misunderstandings and sticky situations caused by people trying to pretend/lie to other people that create awkward situations, but all is eventually sorted out. A couple of big secrets with a couple of the characters are revealed too, one I didn't see coming and one I'd sort of guessed at, and a big development for an unsuspecting character.... without giving anything away! There was such a really lovely ending too. A really, warm, fuzzy, feel-good book reminding me quite why I love Jill Mansell books so much.

    Thanks for your feedback!
