  • A Sequel Living Up to the First

This book was read in the POV of Connor. It was well narrated, but I think the first narrator may have done a bit more to encourage the imagination of the listener. That, to some, may be good or bad. I preferred it in the first book, for sure! The writing of Nora Roberts is done well no matter the genre and I have enjoyed her Sci-fi and Fantasy novels lately. This trilogy has been no different. This midway novel gave a bit more information into the 13th century beginnings, but it stayed mainly in the 21st as “Dark Witch” did. Connor’s POV was much different and helped the reader with grasping the thoughts of what it is like to be an established witch, rather than with Iona, a witch whose skills are being learned and honed. Evil still shows his ugly face and is even more vengeful after the beating he took in Dark Witch. Manipulating anyone he can get his grubby hands or mind upon to do his bidding to get closer to The Three. Nora Roberts takes us into as much anticipation and suspense as before (and without doubt she will put a little romance in the mix). You will not be disappointed in this sequel. Knowing it’s a trilogy will give the reader a sense of the ending, but the fun is in the details which Mrs. Roberts knows how to make flow like feathers in the wind—they flow beautifully but change course within a blink—sharp, harsh, and quick. Take the journey with Connor and the others as they live with Cahban at their heels...and in their dreams.
