  • Thought provoking

Gives an overview of philosophies from the enlightenment and of current philosophies. He shows how philosopgies that abandon a Judeo-Christian perspective are unworkable and can result in disaster. It is a very thought provoking book. I thought the second half was better than the first.

  • A brilliant book

Shapiro gives a concise and compelling history of the vital interplay between Judaism, Christianity, and Greek philosophy that gave rise to the towering achievements of European and American civilization. He also traces the development of the historical and present crises that have shaken our civilization's bedrock. This is a very good book. It's both timeless and extremely relevant to the present day. Read it.

  • Superb Creation of History and Philosophy

This was a surprising work to me, in that I usually assume that Ben Shapiro focuses almost entirely on comtemporary politics. This book displays his enormous talent as an intellectual, and his thorough understanding of history and philosophy. I still don't think history fully explains where we are today, but this book does a great job of analysing the history of Western thought and is very worthy addition to anyones library.
