  • To be utilized with a grain of salt.

This book is a masterpiece, but is certainly showing its age too. The writing was finished relatively soon after the defeat of the Nazis and consequently it deals with both the benefits and the bias which are characteristic of first-hand knowledge. Consider utilizing other sources in addition to this excellent work.

Dated but very thorough history. Excellent place to start if one wishes to study the time period.

  • Great for it’s time.

The Rise & Fall of the Third Reich is an insightful recounting of the authors time with the people of Nazi Germany in the Nazi’s own sphere of interest. Shirer captures the waves of emotions throughout the Third Reich and it’s brief history. Shirer details the tumultuous roller coaster that Nazi Germany imposed on everyone within it’s sphere. From the Nazi hierarchy down to the citizens of the greater Reich, Shirer captures the essence of the Third Reich from the inside.

  • Hitler and the Power of the Mouth

The research by the author was impressive and this was complemented by his own eye witness accounts. The marathon narration was commendable.

  • A great arcing view of the Nazis.

A compelling listen. The author covers this period of madness in great detail but it is still easily understandable. There are lessons to be learned here that can be applied to our current political situation.
