    Wonderful!

Having loved reading this book first time round I was intrigued to hear it, and it just made me love it more! Brilliantly voiced by Paula Wilcot, the characters really come alive. Just fabulous! !

Great exploration of what it is to be human.

I loved this audio!! Firstly the style of writing and such well drawn complex characters, the two youngest were amazing, very truthful and a lovely friendship. It made me question, the treatment of our fellow human beings and gave me pause for thought. Which is the sign of a good book to me. I also loved Paula Wilcox’s reading! I look forward to more of Joanna’s books.

    Thoughtful and well written

Told from the point of view of several characters this book is so much more than a missing person mystery. There were wonderful turns of phrase and astute observations of people and their behaviour. At times funny, always interesting and ultimately thought-provoking. This was a neighbourhood drama about everyday life and the secrets and prejudices we all hold.

    A community exposed

The author captures the small minded nature of a community in middle England and displays it’s consequences through a narrative of events during the summer of 1976. Beware of stereotyping your neighbours.

    Well worth listening to

Not a book I would have chosen, but really enjoyed listening to it. The characters were brought to life by Paula Wilcox reading and I became immersed in the flow of the story. My first try at an audiobook, thanks to the Good Housekeeping offer. It has made me sit and relax for a while - a calm from my busy schedule. Give it a go.
