  • Hard boiled sci-fi page turner

Definitely in the style of the Takeshi novels and basically the same structure. Which works fine actually because the prose is so good and the world building nicely layered until you're living and breathing the world of Hakan Veil. Richard Morgan writes very compelling dialogues which, if you're paying attention, gives clues about the central mystery. There's also a large character and organisation count to track but it's in service of the overall theme of Earth versus Mars. I felt like I wanted that theme to be explored more deeply. Overall, this is a fine techno/thriller dystopian page turner and you might wonder one day if humans will live under the lamina of Mars and swat code flies.

    Thanks for your feedback!
