    When the lie becomes real...

Jessica Dawson didn't mean to lie to her entire family. Fabricating being in a happy relationship to comfort her grandmother on her death bed, Jessica's lie turns around and bites her when her entire family finds out about it. Scheduled to go home for a wedding, she does the only sane thing she can think to do... hire someone to play the doting boyfriend...  Dave Larsson is an actor who Jessica knows through work, and when she approaches him with her off the wall idea, no one is more surprised than her when he accepts. Then the real charade begins, and now that Jessica has a very tempting (and very real) man playing her boyfriend, she may start lying to herself more than anyone... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This book was a fun read! With a great plot and some serious sexiness, Jessica and Dave's fake relationship is about to become more real than they had ever planned... Although Jessica doesn't really want to keep lying to her family about her relationship status, with her grandmothers miraculous recovery and her entire family asking about her boyfriend, she just doesn't have it in her to explain the situation for what it was.  Dave is the younger brother of a famous actor, but accomplished in his own right. When he agrees to Jessica's offer, he immediately inserts himself in her life in order to practice for "the job." He is so sweet and understanding, and Jessica doesn't know how she landed someone like him to help her cause.  Somewhere in between all of the plans for their charade, Jessica and Dave become friends, and when friends spend time together naked... the lie is about to change them for good...  I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.

    Great Story

This is the first time I have ever read a book written by T. Gephart and I enjoyed this title a lot. I am really looking forward to reading Nick's story that is coming towards the end of the year. I found #1 Lie to be a really sweet and heartfelt story. I had a little tear in a couple of spots and I laughed a few times, especially at some of Jess' antics. Jess lied to her grandmother. Her reasons behind why she did is fair enough, but what ensued after the lie will make her realize it is NOT ok to lie to someone and expect to get away with it. Whoops! I felt Jess was a little bit uptight in some spots, while in others she was a funny, fun loving women. I liked her when she was with Dave. Relaxed and happy. Dave is trying to move up in the acting world. Two of his brother's are already famous and can land roles that do not involve Dog Food and being a shirtless delivery driver.. But hey we can all wish our delivery drivers looked like him! I really liked Dave. He seemed to genuinely like Jess and I really felt for him when things went down the road they did. He is so incredibly sweet and attentive. Totally swoon worthy in my books Jess and Dave together was pretty electric. I could feel their connection as feelings started developing and feelings got deeper. Their steamy scenes were pretty hot, I must say. I would have really loved if this book had both POV instead of just Jess'. I really wanted to get inside Dave's head and work out what he was thinking, how he felt, why he said that. I felt a little frustrated with the fact that I had to guess but that is the only thing I would change about this story. This book is a beautiful heartwarming story and definitely worth the read. I look forward to reading #1 Muse!

    Laugh out Loud Rom-Com

Jessica Dawson committed the ultimate sin. She lied to her dear sweet old Granny on her deathbed. You see, Jessica was the last of the grandkids who was not married or had a significant other. All her granny wanted was for Jessica to find a nice man who would love her unconditionally. Wanting to make her gran happy before she took her last breath, Jess lied through her teeth about the wonderful man she was dating and the whirlwind relationship they had. Who knew her gran would do a complete three sixty and recover. Guess Jesus needed gran to be around for just a while longer. Jess, well, she was surely going to hell for lying. To top it all off, now her gran and the rest of her family want to meet Jess’ new boyfriend while she attends her cousins wedding back home in Louisiana. What is a girl to do in a situation like this? Obviously NOT tell her family she was a liar. That would be a total disaster. Jess decides to hire a fake boyfriend, one who is a great actor and pull off the part. Who better to ask than a real actor, Dave Larsson. They got along well and Dave was always nice to her, not like some actors she worked with as an assistant to one of the top agents in town. Plus dave was super hot and would make the perfect arm candy. It’s not like she ever thought of licking said arm candy. Okay maybe she had! So what?! This was going to be strictly professional. What could possibly go wrong? Jessica is such a fantastic heroine. She is smart, witty, and so full of life and laughter. She loves her family dearly and does not want to disappoint them which leads her to her current predicament asking Dave to be her fake boyfriend for a family wedding. You just can’t help loving Jessica right from the start. She is such a disaster, but in a good way..mostly poking fun at herself and the situations she gets herself into. As much as she didn’t want to admit how much she likes Dave, she has a hard time trying to keep their little set up professional. Dave on the other hand is just swoon worthy. The perfect book boyfriend any woman would want. He is down to earth and a straight up nice guy for being an actor. He has family values and is genuinely a great guy. The connection between Jessica and Dave is off the charts, hot and steamy. They compliment each other in so many ways which makes them even more perfect for each other. Jessica’s family is boisterous and full of Southern charm and it was really nice to see how well Dave fit right in with her family. OMG! Granny Shelly was a riot. At 80 something yrs old she was not afraid to speak her mind or ask to see some skin…Dave’s naked chest that is! The best scene ever! I loved Jessica’s family and want them as my family. I am wondering if I could be adopted! #1 Lie by T. Gephart is a laugh out loud Rom-Com that will leave you in stitches. The one liners thrown around on almost every single page had my dying! I could not stop myself from reading all the way through in one sitting. I pretty much ignored everyone for a few hours because I could not put this book down. The story was engaging with some of the best characters in any book I have ever read. #1 Lie is definitely a five plus star read! Although, this is my first read by T. Gephart, it certainly will not be my last.

    Such a funny read!

Such a funny read! T. Gephart is a new author to me but I’m so happy to have another author on my TBR list! The crazy antics in this story had me smiling, giggling, and even laughing out loud. One small lie meant to appease her dying grandma, leads to a paid boyfriend who happens to be an aspiring Hollywood star to save face at a family wedding. Jess is smart, headstrong, and knows exactly what she wants. Dave was sweet, kind, hot, and everything you want in a great book boyfriend. Their slow burn romance was just right. It wasn’t too slow that I was bored or waiting for something else to happen. The pace of this story, told in 1st person, was great. Dual POVs have become my preference but I really enjoyed this one because of the descriptions. The dialogue and actions described were enough to connect well with both characters. Don’t look further for a fun, hilarious, beach read with enough fire and emotion to connect to and keep your attention. Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.

A RomCom with heart and heat

#1 Lie is so much fun! The story is funny and sexy but also goes deeper with a storyline that will tie your emotions up into knots! When she thought her grandmother was dying, Jessica Dawson tells one small fib. But after Gran pulls through that small fabrication leads to her hiring actor Dave Larsson to play her boyfriend at a family wedding. “I should probably look into some kind of meetings for Dishonesty Anonymous; the lies I’d told recently far outweighing the truth.” Super sweet and sexy Dave really turns the heat up and Jessica finds that he might be bigger than the part she hired him to play. “His mouth was magic, able to dissolve panic and educe calmness with a single press of his lips. Like kryptonite but in reverse. Maybe we should do that again? Purely for research purposes. Science was important and I’d happily give my lips up for the cause. That I might enjoy it, well . . . that was just a bonus.” Jessica is such a sassy, quirky heroine, she completely stole my heart. I loved the fun and flirty banter throughout! #1 Lie is part of the #1 series but they can all be read as standalones. -5 Stars!!-
