    EASY READING

I loved Alexander McCall Smith’s No 1 Ladies Detective series so it was natural to move onto the 44 Scotland Street series. It is written in the same easy style that is pleasant to read without the fear of any violent episodes so often encountered in books nowadays. It has an interesting range of characters and by the end of the book I was eager to read the next book in the series to see how they were getting on. I would recommend the book to anyone looking for an easy read.

    First ever review!

Although a Glasgow boy I studied lived worked and played in Edinburgh so thank you Alexander for taking me right back there - to a different place from Ian Rankin but equally real and very funny. My friend told us that our grandson reminded him of Bertie and I see why! Not that our daughter resembles Irene oh no! I would recommend to anyone who loves characters through whom we can enjoy the funny and pathetic sides of life.

    Good read

An entertaining traverse of a number of related characters with a few curved balls thrown in for good measure
