  • Canberra

  • Life In A Cold War Bomber Squadron

Interesting story from a very different perspective, and one I quite enjoyed reading. One thing that surprised me was that aircrew were not assigned to a particular aircraft for the duration of their tours, as was the case in WW2, but rather that a crew was assigned to a plane on the basis of whichever one was available for a specific task or tasks. I got the impression that RAF crews rarely flew the same aircraft in 2 successive missions. Well worth a read, although I would have liked some more descriptions of what the German people and pilots were like in the 1960s. Enjoy!

  • Thoroughly enjoyable.

A readable narrative with clear details of squadron life, but with enough technical gems to please those of us who lived through those times and enjoyed reliving the nostalgia.
