  • Desolate and bleak

Extremely evocative in the beginning. A difficult and pitiful childhood. Terse relationship with his Father which garners much sympathy particularly given the impact this has on his other relationships and on his own self. Incredibly interesting, both psychologically and stylistically, at first. The self-deprecation and constant introspection quickly become overdrawn and tiresome however and the repetition of certain elements is irksome. Little desire to read the remainder of the autobiography.

  • self-important, dull and uninspired

This is an unpleasantly self-important and depressingly uninspired and dull account of a truely boring and eventless life. If you're looking for an entertaining book, perhaps with an exciting storyline full of twists and turns, cleverly phrased, witfully narrated and deeply philosophical - better read the manual of your toaster or your washing machine instead
