  • Apple Blossoms Win The Lady

This is one of my favourite books in the Bastion Club series. Jack, Baron Warnefleet, gives up on searching for a bride in London and heads home to his estate. Before reaching there, he happens upon a carriage accident and helps rescue the driver with the aid of Lady Clarice the only witness. The fun begins with a clash of their strong personalities. While Jack was fighting Napoleon, Lady Clarice was helping the people on his estate from her vantage point as the Vicar's housekeeper. When the Vicar is accused of treason, giving information to the French on British military manoeuvres, Jack and Clarissa join forces and return together to London to clear the Vicar of the charges and incidentally help Clarissa's brothers overcome their problems with their step-mother. The Bastion Club help in gathering the necessary information and flush out a remaining spy in the British Government.

  • traditional Laurens novel

Like Stephanie Laurens novels because her heroines aren't wishy washy and the men actually listen. Sex scenes are somewhat repetative over many novels but you can skim those.
