  • Action and lots of laughs!

This is a really fun book and I laughed my way through the adventure. Madison Fox's a good person, but she's quirky, ditzy, and a magnet for trouble. At 25, she hasn't really found her place in life and is just trying to figure things out. She has a power called "soul-sight" that allows her to see the good and bad in people, both physically and spiritually. It's a very interesting and unique way of viewing the world through "Soul-sight" or "Primordium" as it's later called in the book. The writing's very clever and you're sucked into Madison's world and all of her crazy. And there's a lot of crazy! I squealed like a little girl, when Dr Alex Love asked her on a date, but I'm really curious to see if she ends up with Dr Love or Niko Demitrius(aka Mr Dark and Deadly, her hot, hunky, co-worker). Also, a drunk Bridget(Madison's best friend) is a hilarious Bridget. There's something for everyone in this story, from an evil demon/imps/vervets wreaking havoc, to a video game convention, where Madison's dressed as Lara Croft(padded bra and all), to a hot Vet, to an obese siamese cat, to a secret evil fighting organization, to a temping co-worker, and to vital battles of good vs. evil. The story's full of a ton of adventure, danger, and suspense as to what trouble Madison will get into next. While this is fantasy, the characters are all relatable, likable, and as realistic as possible. I loved how Madison evolved in the book, from scared and unsure to hopeful and determined. Personally, I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series.

  • Not typical story of someone in over her head

Not your typical story of someone in over her head and it is obvious from the beginning that Madison is in over her head. The book is funny; Madison does bring on several of her own problems (partly because she doesn't know when to listen and partly because she is not trained for what she is doing)

  • Strong start . . .

Really liked the main character. . .fun, funny, witty & good hearted. Story started off very strong & promising. It just didn't finish . . .got a little hokey and far reaching.

  • Very enjoyable

I did really enjoy this fine author's dry sense of humour. She has developed an amusing and addictive fantasy world. In fact it was hard to pull away from! Thank you Rebecca Chastain for that as well as the complimentary first novel!

  • On the job training

Loved it. Madison has what she calls "soul sight" - the ability to assess a person's soul. She gets a new job - one where she needs to use her ability to find and kill imps, hellhounds and demons. Thrown in at the deep-end, she learns on the job with very little help.
