  • A Game Of Chance

I couldn’t wait to read the Chance story. It all comes down to how the mighty fall. The warrior spirit is strong but the woman take them down especially the right one. Love the way Linda spins a story and particularly this series.

  • A fitting end to the series

It was a long wait for Chance's book but it was well worth the wait when the print edition first appeared on shop shelves. It's a pity that Ms Howard's original author's note has disappeared - in it, if I recall correctly, she wrote that the books were set in the future so perhaps only the first book in the series, Mackenzie's Mountain, which was first published in 1989, was set in the correct time period. What do I love about this book? The prologue for a start - Chance's reluctance to have physical contact with others because of his early experiences on the street but his total fascination with his nephews and his angelically demonic niece Nick. What she put him through in the epilogues of the previous two books. Wolf's talk with Chance in the barn and the validation of Chance as a Mackenzie. The knowledge, a long time in the making, that genetics are not the only thing that makes a cohesive family. The last line in the book. This is a family that has stayed with me for more than 20 years and I am so pleased to be reacquainted with them.
