  • Dry.

This author has a somewhat dull and monotonous style of writing which, unfortunately, turns what should be an interesting book, into a bit of a slog. In the rain. Uphill.

  • A History Of Scotland

Hearing Neil Oliver narrate the beginnings and repeated demise of Scotland as a land, a people and an idea is chilling and heart warming at the same time. It leaves sense of grief for what might have been that is mitigated by belief in enduring national pride at the resilience of the land and its folk. Exploding national myth whilst adding depth and colour to half remembered truths has made this a jaw dropping read. Thank you Neil.
