    Reading this book was immersing yourself in ancient history! Picturesque scenery. Realistic women & men. Descriptive hard fought battle and viictory or defeat.

    The fight for Scotland's freedom,by Robert the Bruce and the hero of this tale ,The Black Douglas.With the Dragon pennant flying,King Edward of England retaliated with great cruelty.to men,women and children and yet somehow there is affection still too be found.

    Enough historical accuracy to be enticing and appalling as to how things were in the times that are too often over romanticized
