  • Disappointing

Very disappointing. I enjoyed book #1 The Witches of Lychford, less so book #2 The Lost Child of Lychford, but this the third book in the seres I found frankly both annoying and just plain silly. The author dwells on complexities of his multi-world borders themes, but lacks coherence in his story telling. He fails to develop his characters and, compared with the first book, even takes a step backwards insofar as the character of Lizzie, the vicar, fades into the background, whilst we suddenly learn that Autumn is of mixed race (?) and that theme is pursued as the reason for her sense of not belonging. The Americanisms in spelling which I found irritating in book become even more annoying in this book along with the pseudo-Britishisms, such as "summat". When I first bought books 1 and 2 I thought I'd found a series in the mold of Phil Rickman's Merrily Watkins series, but sadly not, these Lychford books don't even begin to compare. A pity.

  • A(nother) great read!

I'm loving the ladies of Lychford. All, and plenty more, power to them! Looking forward to the next installment.
