  • .......a hobby and a family!

Beautifully written, a real working class Australian story, of love, laughter and a wonderful journey through the labyrinth of an ordinary, happy, funny family is hat loved each other, warts and all. I fell in love with you his family and understand the brilliance of Will McInnes ability to portray a true Aussie with integrity. His journey is the core of every working class family of the era. Loved this book. I'm hooked on his storytelling.

  • A Man's Gotta Have a Hobby

A wonderful story of a time not so long ago, when we were all a little more carefree, beautifully woven with the present. What a joy :-)

  • Funny as

As a person who grew up in the Brisbane area it brought back many memories. The humerous twist put to these had me in stitches! A great read.

  • Larconic and clever

Unpretentious, larconic, funny and moving. William McInnes recounts child (and adult)hood tales with a typical Australian filter that is anything but typical due to his ability to be so emotionally articulate (as well as in the literary sense). I never felt as if he was 'cashing in' on jingoistic larrikinism nor did I suffer any cultural cringe. It was honest, insightful and always engaging. I can't wait to read his others.
