    Enthralling

I found this second book of the series as captivating as the first one. The book is well written and full of interesting details about life in India at the time. Humour is always present and the characters have an interesting complexity. Suspense is present until the very end, which is totally unexpected, another good point for a crime story. A must read!

    Exotic tale

Has just about everything -suspense,mystery,atmosphere whilst conveying insights into an era that in some ways lingers on. This ticks all the boxes.

    A necessary evil

An easy read, thriller & interesting to imagine life in a kingdom in india just after the first world war. Interesting too to get inside the head of the main detective as the plot enfolds. He is a clever man but has his own weaknesses.
