  • Not as good as many of his others

I am reading le Carré's books in chronoogcal order, and after the first four, I have found this to be the weakest so far. It's not bad, per se, but it lacks what made The Spy Who Came In From The Cold so absorbing, or The Looking Glass War so tragic. I found A Small Town In Germany to be something of a slog, and often it seemed stuttering and scattershot. It's certainly not as easy a read as le Carré's previous. I foud, however, that the further I got ito the book, the more enjoyable it became, but the feeling of slight confusion and of not having aspets fully explained never left me. Still, I'm glad I finished it.

    Thanks for your feedback!
