    Not my cup of tea

I really wanted to like this book but I really didn't. I found it difficult to get through and it didn't flow for me.

    Depressing or what?

I wanted to enjoy this book and admire a life spent saving lives, but I think the author was incredibly hard on himself and seemed to dwell on his past mistakes, his past depression and on the futility of life in retirement which gave him time to dwell on his own impending death and how it would be for him. In many ways it demonstrates how retirement from an eminent position in life can erode a man’s confidence. I found it to be a very sad book.
