Excellent and highly objective articulation of delicate historical events. The book also helps understanding the current conflicts taking place in and around the Middle East.

  • My reflections ...

Very well written history of the early days of Islam and the break between Sunni and Shia which still resonates today. Very much the 'traditional' history which is perhaps questionable (not least because the sources are fairly late) and written very much from a Shia perspective, but nonetheless a good introduction to a controversial story.

  • Insight

I wish more people would read this - it should be required reading at this time in history - describes the origins and divisions, as they developed in Islam - also describes the true ideals of Islam

  • Great and easily understandable of the conflict

Easily understandable.Easy to read with not more then necessary detail of historic events. Explains the soul and philosphy of the contradiction.
