  • A must read for all fantasy readers.

I have enjoyed this entire series and can hardly wait untill the release of the final book in this series. The characters are rich and endearing with lots of action and a plot that continues to thicken. Michael`s style of writing is great and filled with intensity.

  • A bit short but absolutely first rate writing

Very well crafted. Mr Sullivan strikes that fine balance between an epic story and a manageable number of well developed characters. I'm looking forward to the last book in the series.

  • Fantastic work but incredibly short

As the title says, I loved the book and was gripped all the way through but I just felt it was far to short for the price.

  • Memorable Characters in a Fascinating World

For the first time in two years, a Michael J. Sullivan book hasn't made me cry. But that doesn't mean my emotions are in order! Once again, he crafted an incredible world filled with complex and endearing characters that pulled at my heart strings and devastated me at the ending. While I loved returning to the world of the living with familiar faces like tragic Persephone (I just want to give her a big old hug), and clever and kind Suri. Both of them, along with Fhrey characters like Imaly, had fantastic moments as they adapted to their new situations, and I fear what will happen to them, given the giant curveball Sullivan tossed at the end. Yet for all that I loved those moments, the realms of the Underworld fascinated me. There were familiar legends and lore that I recognized from earth's mythology, and these were altered to create whole new stories and myths that opened up an entire new world. The rules of these realms were unique and memorable, and to be honest, I was completely content in his realm of the dead! Every character in that realm amazed me. Not just the new kings and queens and princesses, but the familiar faces who struggled and fought all the way to that shocking end. It's so hard to choose a favourite (I honestly don't think I can), but the characters who stuck most with me were Tesh (another character in desperate need of a hug), Brin, the light of so many lives, and Moya, who is my fierce, unstoppable queen. I could go on for days about how much I adore them and rooted for them, especially Tesh. I did not expect this story to go the way that it did, but there was never a moment where I was not totally enthralled by Sullivan's incredible, immersive, and fluid writing style. Never a moment where I didn't understand the characters and wished for them to succeed. While I might not have cried this time, this remained a powerful journey written by an expert, and I cannot wait to see how it concludes!

    Thanks for your feedback!
