  • Fun and thought-provoking

If you like old-style thrillers heavy on the technical details, it doesn't get much better. I was also intrigued by the predictions for the future of civil aviation, few of which have come true. The number of stories running through thye novel put you everywhere in the operations and the politics of late '60s aviation, often regarded as a golden age.

  • A good (fictional) historical look at air travel

It was interesting to read the book and see how much has changed and how much hasn't in air travel since the late 1960s. Because of changes in airport security, two of the main plots couldn't happen today. Speaking of plots, in a way this book doesn't really have an overall plot; instead there are about six or seven different stories connected by the airport. Most of the plots aren't (fully) resolved by the end of the book. One of the more interesting parts is the times when Mel speculates about the future of air travel and compare to what did and didn't happen. In terms of the book, if you are looking for an exiting plot line, that mostly occurs in the second half of the third section.

  • If you have read it, read it again.

I thoroughly enjoyed this 51-year-old novel. I wanted to read one of his books and I wasn't disappointed. The plot is suspenseful and the characterization is realistic. Along the way, I learned something about the airline industry, though some of it may be dated. Still a great read.

  • Outdated

Saw the movie long time ago but never read the book. Unfortunately, aftr all these years, it has become outdated and therefore irelevant. I found it long-winded. Part 3 is more intersting.
