  • Molly Hook you beauty!

I loved Trent Dalton’s first Book (Boy Swallows Universe) and was worried that his second wouldn’t live up to it. How wrong I was. From the get go I fell in love with Molly Hook and her questioning and poetic soul. She’s Huckleberry Finn, Jasper Jones, Pippi Longstocking and Heidi all rolled into one. I dare any reader not to fall in love with her. Dalton transports his readers deep into northern Australia. He opens up a magical world of beauty and mystery. His descriptions of the ancient landscape are pure poetry. And then there are his memorable characters. Some you will love and others you will hate. But all of them will live and breathe before you. You must read this book.

  • different

Well the book is described as "– a buoyant, beautiful and magical novel, abrim with warmth, wit and wonder." ...which it is, but is also brutal, cruel and sometimes confronting. Almost gave it a miss at 40% but for me it improved greatly when Molly started her journey. There I found the magic, warmth and wit and the book became enjoyable.
