  • Not for me

I am not a fan of this one. The way the hero, King, treats the heroine, Amelia, ruins the whole story for me. Poor Amelia has nothing going for her. A father that treats her like property and now King that treats her even worse. Also, the way the story jumps back and forth between Amelia's story and her brother's is frustrating and confusing. Not an enjoyable read for me at all.

  • Oldie but goodie

Thank you NetGalley for the copy of Amelia by Diana Palmer that I read and reviewed. This book is a reprint of a book that has been out for a number of years but it is a classic Diana Palmer that made her the great author that she is today. I can honestly say that I am not big fan of older western themed books but once you get into this story you forget the era the book is written in until she mentions riding horses instead of driving cars and how women are treated so differently then they are in books today. As for the book I really enjoyed it. I loved Amelia's dedication to her father even though he was really mean to her and I loved how she hid her spunk from King and shocked him when he found out how she really was. This was a true Diana Palmer work that is her signature writing. I am giving Amelia five out of five stars.

  • Lacks depth

Amelia's character undergoes a miraculous change once she's beaten and bumps her head. The contrast is so quick and stark that it's completely unbelievable.

  • A delightful western romance!

A western romance that will sweep you off your feet! My heart several times while reading this book - I thought I'd get a chapter in and then be able to stop for the night...nope. I found myself up until 2am, finally giving in to my eyes watering at 87% and immediately picked it back up the next morning. The relationship between Amelia and her father is strained, but she keeps it under wraps, so nobody else knows her pain. I loved the interactions between her and the Culhane brothers as well. King is the sort of man you love to hate, and boy do you through most of the story. A wonderful tale of not judging a book by its cover!
