  • Mr April

3.5 stars Ask Me If I care is the fourth novel in the KPD SWAT GENERATION 2.0 series. The story of Ares and Hayes is quirky , mainly because Ares is a bit of a klutz and Hayes thinks she is totally adorable! As their relationship progresses it gets very intense and deals with some serious issues, although only on a surface level. It becomes obvious very quickly that they bring the best out in each other. In this, more than any of the other novels in this series, it's difficult to keep the characters, their names and the stories already told straight in your head whilst reading. To be fair, I don't know if having read the previous novels in this series is of benefit or not. Although I love being able to predict the 'next couple' to get their HEA , I felt that interactions with additional characters was, at times, unnecessary. Overall though, Ask Me If I Care is a fitting addition to the 'calendar' family and I can't wait for Mr May.

  • Entertaining and Full of Action!

Loved Hayes and Ares. Their cute flirtation but Hayes being that strong but silent type. Definitely a good bit of mystery and action. A tiny twist thrown in and some humor that always make the SWAT books fun to read. I always smile during these stories and they never lack the steaminess either. Great strong female characters as well.

  • A perfect couple! They just fit!

Hayes and Ares. I could not put together a more perfect couple than these two! They just fit. Absolutely. And they both have a sense of humor that kept me LOL'ing from the beginning of the book, straight through to the end. Ares is looking for that one perfect person, the one that will complete her. But she keeps finding the wrong ones. Until she isn't looking. When she least expects it, he shows up, and turns her world upside down. He is everything she didn't know she wanted. Hayes is messed up. But he's making it, day by day. A returning veteran, he joins the KPD as a SWAT officer. This leads him to Ares, and she changes his life, as much as he changed hers. But there are things going on that threaten their happiness, and those that they love. They just have to figure out what it is, and how to fix it! This story was a riot! I loved these to crazy characters, and couldn't help but laugh at them. On the other hand, their story was also full of surprises, and there were a few twists that I never, ever would have seen coming! It was a great book, and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

  • I need a man like Hayes!!

I've found another extraordinary hero to add to my harem! Hayes and Ares met at a police charity event that neither of them wanted to be at. They were seated across from each other with her ex, who also happened to be Hayes' step-brother, seated at the same table with his new fiancée. They couldn't keep their eyes off of each other and didn't stay far from the other's mind in the months that followed. Background info: ★ Hayes, along with Luca and Malachi, was a prisoner of war and suffers from PTSD ★ His father is a renowned profiler and his step-brother is Ares' ex and a famous (arrogant) baseball player ★ Ares is a Downy, sister to Locke ★ she's a guidance counselor who actually cares about the students she sees ★ the serial killer subpot that was introduced is still very present in this story. Remember, the killer targets and kills teenage girls. While Hayes couldn't get enough of Ares and realized that she was everything he could ever want, he knew he had issues and that maybe he wasn't enough for her. Did that stop them from pursuing each other? Could they really resist such scrumptious temptation? No and nope. It was easy to see how happy they made each other and neither wanted that to end. Their journey was sexy and cute and funny with a bit of danger to spice things up. What gave this story that extra push to five stars was the ending. Holy guacamole! LLV gave me an ending that left me swoooooning! If I wasn't already in love with Hayes and Ares, that epilogue would have sealed the deal. A sweet alpha, sassy heroine, check-ins with other characters, intriguing (and hopefully they'll get their own book) side characters, and heartwarming romance with an edge made Ask Me If I Care a must-read!!

  • Another winner from Lani Lynn Vale

Lani Lynn Vale has become one of my top 5 authors with her interesting, realistic stories. I enjoy her style of writing. Her stories have believable characters from adults to teens to babies. I love that her stories are centered on realistic situations and interactions. Her story lines flow well. She also has a great sense of humour. I enjoy in particular the epilogues: a whole chapter glimpse of the main couple's life after marriage. Ares and Hayes' story is a fine example of Lani Lynn Vale's "keeper" books - one that had kept my interest from the arresting begining to the satisfying end. Can't wait for the next instalment! It's great that Ms. Vale is a prolofic writer with books in the series already lined up!
