  • A gripping sequel

This book - indeed, this series - won't be for everyone. It's intensely psychological in nature; relying on the reader respinding to the abstract nature of Area-X in a similar way to the characters of the story. "Authority" builds on the ambience and uncertainty of book one, "Annihaltion". John Rodriguez (a.k.a. Control) has been sent in to investigate and stabilise The Southern Reach. But the borders of Area-X are expanding and he is short on time, and shy on understanding the complexities of this ultra-secret geographical anomaly. I enjoyed the ambiance of the book. There is a lot of emphasis on the use of hypnosis, and the dream like quality if the narrative reflects this very well. Sent a shiver up my spine and left me hanging into the edge of my seat in anticipation. I am liking guard now to book three.

  • Great book

I bought the second book in the trilogy before I was even half way through the first one. It did not disappoint. Looking forward to the next one!

  • Das innere einer Behörde

Die Handlung spielt im Inneren einer Behörde. Wie beim ersten Buch werden mehr Rätsel gestellt als gelöst. aber diesmal in langweiligerer Umgebung.

  • Disappointment

After the atmospheric 1st book this was a disappointment. A very slow pace and difficult-to-read style, I failed to see the point in this book.
