  • Love this series!

Helen Hardt does it again! Another amazing read. There hasn't been another author that has been able to keep my attention for 16 books and still leave me wanting more. Book 16 of the Steele brothers is just as amazing as the first 15 books. I was skeptical reading the last three books about Daphne and Brad. I did not think I would enjoy their story as much as I did their children's. But their story really pulled the series all together and made the series feel complete. So I was curious how I was going to feel reading the next generation and if it was going to feel natural or forced for another book. Helen really touches on hard topics and devastating histories for this family. She was able to bring forward to this new story as much emotion and childhood devastation and trauma as the rest of her books. It's a beautiful story surrounded by trauma and grief. Helen Hardt could have left the series alone after Daphne and Brad but she beautifully transitions to the next generation and makes it feel so natural and makes you want to continue following along with this amazing family. Dale is now 35 years old and has been with Talon and Jade for 25 years. Because of his first 10 years and the trauma he suffered he has become a loner. His story is very similar to Talons. Dale is the most happy and as peaceful as he can be when he is amongst the grape vines in the Steele vineyards. He is set to take over the vineyards from his uncle Ryan. I really like how Helen has not forgotten any characters from the previous books and continues to let us know what is going on with them without taking away from Dale's story. Then in walks Ashley White. She is a friend of Dale's sister, Diana. She becomes an intern at the vineyards much to Dale's objections. The story relates so much to Talons story that even Jade comments to Ashley that their stories are so similar. Jade came to the farm to see her friend Marj after she was left at the alter. She was 25 at the time which is the same as Ashley. Talon suffered with horrifying nightmares and so does Dale. Dale has such love for his family and is very protective of his sisters, especially Diana. That is another similarity to the first few books as Talon and his brothers were fiercely protective of Marjorie. The one part of the story I don't understand yet is why Dale does not have a close relationship with Jade. Of course, he is closer to Talon as he can relate to his childhood trauma but Dale does not know what went on with Talon in his childhood. You can feel the devastation Jade feels about not having that closeness with Dale. I'm sure their story will continue to be explained in the next couple upcoming books. I look forward to reading more of Dale and Ashley's story in the next couple books.

  • The next generation begins with a bang!

The next generation has begun with this book and it is Dale and Ashley’s story. Like the making of a great wine, this book follows a similar path. It is not a standalone and the books must be read in order. Twenty-five years ago, Dale and his brother were given a new life when they were adopted by Talon Steel and his wife Jade. As Dale grew up, he learned to live but kept his secrets to himself as he is a loner by nature. Ashley is studying for her doctorate in oenology and comes to the Steel Ranch for an internship. The two immediately have an intense attraction to each other. Where Ashley has no problem putting it out there that she wants Dale, he is doing everything in his power to fight it. There is so much that they have in common if they would only open up but maybe some things are meant to stay buried? Once again, Ms. Hardt has given readers a dynamic read from beginning to end. It is filled with drama, steam, intrigue and love. I am eagerly awaiting the next book in this series!

  • Another Helen Hardt Winner

Another Helen Hardt winner .... and like all of her books in this series, she leaves us out on the cliff with no way down until her next book is released! Don’t start reading unless you have time to finish it at once!
