  • Wonderful read

A wonderful story with absolutely beautiful scenery! This is a new to me author and I wasn't sure what to expect. What I got was a well written book that was a joy to read. Thank you Aria & Aries via NetGalley for the ARC copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

  • Spirit-raising & Totally Immersive

I wanted to read Beneath Cornish Skies as it belongs in a couple of genres that I dip into from time to time and also as it's set in a place I've visited and would very much like to again. Kate Ryder's characterisation skills were evident and I loved her portrayal of our protagonist, Cassandra (Cassie) Shaw. Cassie's spirit and determination really shone through and she was courageous in her decision to leave David Ashcroft, her inconsiderate, controlling, cheating and distant boyfriend of ten years, to pursue different goals and make the necessary changes in her life. Cassie starts to settle into her new surroundings and it was lovely to read about her experiences as the new live-in nanny working for the Kinsmans. The storytelling by Kate Ryder was so polished and elegant and the plotline had a magical element to it that was sublime. I particularly liked the author's descriptions of Foxcombe Manor with its air of tranquility. I was easily able to picture the surrounding area with images of the crashing waves, the deep blue sea complete with its shimmering shoreline, the sandy beach and breathing in the salty air. There were light sprinkles of romance between Cassie and Luke, the man in the woods and I was really rooting for them. A terrific, spirit-raising and totally immersive story about self-discovery with shades of ghostliness and the supernatural, that I'm delighted to have read. Thank you to Kate Ryder, Aria, NetGalley and Rachel's Random Resources for a complimentary copy of this novel at my request. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

  • Enjoyable read

This is the perfect book for anyone who is contemplating starting, has done it, or just wonders about it. Cassandra takes a new job to get away from her cheating, controlling boyfriend and although the work is tiring and hard, she loves it. I won’t leave any spoilers, so grab your copy and meet the well written characters and enjoy the beautiful descriptions of the nature scenes. I received an advanced reader copy of this book from NetGalley and Aria and this is my voluntary and honest review.

  • Lighthearted Read, Great Storyline

Starting your life over is not always easy as Cassandra Shaw is to find out. She had the storybook life where she had no money problems and her boyfriend doted on her , but she didn’t feel like her life had meaning. So, she closes one chapter of her life and begins a new one as a nanny in the countryside of the ghostly Cornish land! She becomes a lighthearted woman with new life, but things begin to unexplainably happen. Are these ghostly moments or people causing shadowy emotions? I loved the characters and how the author developed the plot! She made the intrigue believable without being too phony or way out there. I read the book in one sitting because of course you can’t wait to see what happens! I definitely would recommend this book! I received an advanced copy from NetGalley and these are my willingly given thoughts and opinions.

  • Magical

Beautiful story about a woman leaving her cheating boyfriend. She moves to Cornwall to help take care of a family. There she blossoms, finds friends, experiences ghosts, and finds love. Can't wait to read more from this author.
