  • Not much to write home about

i read this admittedly after watching the show on netflix so wasnt exactly unbiased. I found the book just a tad weak on plotlines and too eager to go into smut territory at the expense of actual conflict. i didn't see much in the protagonist besides deep daddy issues and not wanting to be out of control. Show suggested that the book might have more intrigue or identity crisis. Overall it was shallow but definitely readable for fun.

  • Run Of The Mill Urban Fantasy

Trope laden story that's been done to death numerous times before. The book (and the series) is not terrible, but has been surpassed by much better subsequent offerings by other authors, notably The Hollows series by Kim Harrison, which all urban fantasy books featuring a female protagonist should be measured against.
