This is a really hard book to get through, there is a lot of talk about politics which totally lost my interest. I was really looking forward to reading it, as I had heard it was as good as the thorn birds but I won't be reading bittersweet again.

    A bit vapid

nice enough story. T I found this took a long time to get into the main story, it was most interesting towards the end and then it finished.

I found it slow to begin with, but as the characters developed I enjoyed being in a country town in the 1930's and the politics of that time.
