Actual rating 4.5! I was so excited to return to Lou and Reid's world. Their complex romance totally enthralled me and they are both such interesting characters that I needed to see more of them. Thankfully, this sequel delivered on that regard! I enjoyed diving back into this witchy world and seeing new creatures, aspects, and dangers. And there were definitely dangers throughout this book, though most of them didn't truly come from external elements. When I started, I got a hint of where Lou's character would go. My suspicion proved correct, but I did not anticipate the extreme to which she would go. It made her a little challenging for me at times, though I still found her to be a compelling character. Her arc going forward should be interesting, to say the least. I absolutely enjoyed Reid as he struggled with himself. His stubbornness actually engaged me all the way through! I was overly excited to see more of Coco and her trials, and absolutely want more of her! The only reason I'm not giving this a perfect rating is because I'm not totally satisfied with the end. There were a couple questionable choices and snap decisions that make sense in context, but seemed to be more gut-punchy than anything else. It's not a bad ending and sets up the next book, but it's not what I expected. Lou and Reid definitely have a tumultuous relationship, devastating power, and more trials ahead of them. This book surprised me with its new additions, swift pace, and shocking twists. I absolutely crave more, and can't wait to see what happens next!

  • That's was a rollercoaster

Woah. I wanted to give this book 5 stars but that ending shattered me. Don't misunderstand me it was so good and definitely one of my fave 2020 reads but I felt that what happened in that ending was just an excuse for book 3 when it doesn't need book 3...? Ugh yeah. But overall it was amazing and also for the sake of the 2 books I would read the third.

  • Ahhhh

The last part was killing me, i was warned and still! The beginning rook a little to long and it hurt to see my favourite characters in anguish, but the dynamics and the growth is just amazing! Can’t wait to read the next book!

  • Jammer.

Teleurstellend. Ik ga wel nog het 3e boek lezen want ik ben toch benieuwd hoe het afloopt. Maar ik merk dat ik vaak verder bladerde omdat de dialoog te lang werd.

  • Good and interesting, not great

A good plot and story overall but maybe not enough detail on the main characters relationship
