  • Thoroughly enjoyable

Big fan of this type of fiction so please bear that in mind when reading this review. First off I found this very well written, I felt it was in the top 10% of literary constructs, despite a few mildly irritating editorial errors ( spelling mistakes and "'ve" instead of "of" where normally you see the opposite). However despite this pedantry..... Over the first two novels I found the world engrossing and "believable" (in a fantasy epic type of "believable") I thoroughly enjoyed the literary conceit of the sectional introductions by the historical chronicler reviewing his own version of "the truth". I totally bought in to the recent history of the world as it was portrayed, and was intrigued by the, un-revealed, greater history of the world, which hinted at a rich back story. The development of the dramatis personae was enjoyable, if not the deepest of personality development, but I did buy in to the main characters motivations and actions. The best thing I can say about it however, is that having read the first two books back to back, I went off and read the first part of an unrelated novel trilogy and, upon finishing that, came straight back to re-read these two novels, and am thoroughly enjoying the second read through. Have added part 3 to my wish list and am looking forward to July. Would totally recommend if you are a fan of this style of epic fantasy fiction.

  • Awesome series

I am so glad l stumbled upon this series. I was looking for something to read after completing Patrick Rothfuss books and this filled the gap perfectly. I loved this series just as much . The writing and world building is wonderful and l grew to love the main characters. l think the series got better with each book and this trilogy is now one of my favorite fantasy series.
