  • It's Cute

It's cute, but okay. Maybe if it was longer, the story would have waddled away from the ending's corny feel.

  • Looking for a sign? This is it.

I’ve been wanting to read Booked for Christmas since I first heard about it from the author Lily Menon (aka Sandhya Menon). The concept of a romance author and a book critic who writes scathing reviews of her books being snowed in after a Christmas party because they were arguing too much sounded cute, and it really turned out that way. However, if you want something more on the sexy side rather than something sweet that cuts away from the sex scenes this one won’t disappoint. Lily Menon knows how to write enemies to lovers. Believe me: the banter between Sophie and Evan is pitch perfect. It’s witty and well done from page one, just like the rest of her writing. Plus, as I’ve come to expect with her YA novels written under the name Sandhya Menon, she writes diverse stories with a woman of colour as the leading lady and with several LGBTQ2S+ characters in secondary roles, including a f/f couple. Beyond the bookish and holiday themes and setting, I loved that Lily Menon incorporated a character who was a believer of signs from the universe and tarot readings with a nonbeliever. Perfect for those who want a short holiday romance to get them ready for the holiday season.

    Thanks for your feedback!
