  • I didn't hate it

Darling had been my favourite character, so I was really prepared to love this book, even after learning that Darling, who had previously been established as gay, would have a female love interest. And that actually didn't bother me. The explanation for him not actually being gay worked fine. That being said, the stereotyping of gay people made me very uncomfortable at points. I just can't get behind Darling's actions in this book. Some awful things happen to him, but the way he responds, and is never really called out, rubs me wrong. Zarya's negligence is a big reason for those awful things, which made their relationship very uncomfortable for me. That being said, I enjoy getting to see more of Maris and his history with Darling, and there is some serious forward motion on the overarching plot which is good to see.

    Thanks for your feedback!
