  • A series that captures the imagination.

Bella and Edward get married – and they’re in even more danger than ever. I’m going to do this review in several parts to give a proper picture. Fifteen-year-old me: Oh, her dress is so gorgeous. And just look at the venue! Wow! And their honeymoon…*sigh* Why are guys so dumb? Ah! She’s pregnant? How could she get pregnant when Edward is a vampire? So intriguing! And Jacob is so sweet… And even he gets his happily-ever-after. What a great series! I can’t wait to read it again. Grown-up me: They got married straight out of High School? Why? People are in love and grow together, become their own person, live a life without the complications of marriage until they are truly ready to make such a commitment. Fine, she’s going to be a vampire and that’s a commitment too. But sending the message that it’s okay to just get married and not build a life outside of said union… Anyhow, then they get pregnant. *rolls eyes* Why didn’t he just turn her into an indestructible vampire before the next person who doesn’t like her succeeds in killing her? She nearly dies carrying the baby to term – I thought Edward and her happy-ever-after with him was the most important thing in her life? Then Jacob imprints on the baby, making sure that the Pack doesn’t kill this unnatural creature. For the first time Bella acts with emotion when she confronts Jacob about this – and then she returns to being mostly passive. There’s a lot of scenes in this book that, frankly, doesn’t do anything for the story except make it slower. And the climax is boring. Writer me: Personally, I would’ve cut all the scenes from Jacob’s point of view and kept it all from Bella’s perspective like the previous books. It’s about Bella, after all. This will sort out the unnecessary filler scenes and cut to the heart of the story. If not, then Alice’s point of view at the battle should’ve been added (or Aro’s throughout the book) to add more scope. Conclusion: A series that captures the imagination. Worth a read if you’re curious about what the movies left out.

  • A wonderful combination

The whole collection of books are a brilliant combination of fantasy, supernatral, action, thriller and romance. I speak as a non fanatic of thus fanchaise. This is a nice essy read where you generally grow to care about the characters and their outcomes. Even when the fourth book ends you are leftwanting more, isnt that what we all want from a book? the ability to escape just a little without to much concentration required. Sad that its ended, a recommended easy, cant put down read.
