Loved the ease of the story just flowing like the surf. Highs and lows as the waves come in and go out. This story reflects on many great memories for me. Highly recommend it.

    Breath by Tim Winton

A beautifully written book which carried me in to new zones of imagination amd experience. A few times I wondered if I wanted to go there but Tim Winton carried me through to a better place with articulate grace and gave me a new understanding of surfing, relationships and fear. I loved this book!

I have never read a novel that cut so close to my soul. It is the events of my own teenage years that have stayed the longest to mould or haunt me. But I would not change any of them.

Love the dialogue, the minute details that are observed in an intense moment. Having left Western Australia, Tim's books bring me back to the smells- of BBQs and eucalypts, the sounds of the ocean, the birdsong, the utes, and the colours- red dirt, blue sea and white waves crashing. Like a reverse homesickness.

I am 71. Though never having surfed, this story brought back the recklessness and fearlessness of adolescence. I now know that I will never surf! Great read.
