  • Hauntingly well written.

This is definitely not a book for children. Even some adults may have problems with the honesty of the story told here. It is heartbreaking from beginning to end. But It tells the true story, and shows some of the flaws in our justice system. The adversarial nature of our justice system builds in a prideful element which can lead to great miscarriages of justice. Hopefully we will soon find a way to seek justice in our country. I recommend this book to any adults who have an interest in this case or our justice system.

  • Heartwrenching

I learned a lot about Adam's abduction that I did not know. My heart broke for the family - their pain & suffering, frustration at how long it took to bring closure and all the things that went wrong right from the beginning of the investigation. I was inspired by Adam's parents turning something so horrific into a whole new process of helping others who have experienced the abduction of a child with procedures, early notification across the country, amber alert, national data base, etc.

  • I found this book hard to put down. Although it was heart-achingly sad, it covered the pain caused by the loss of a child, the inefficiency of a particular police force and the complete overhaul of a system that had up until Adam's disappearance very little organisation or policing guidelines. This dreadful tragedy was a wake-up call not only for the U.S.A. criminal and judicial system but for policing world-wide. I would thoroughly recommend this book. Parents of today can only be grateful for all the lessons learned when dealing with the horrific crime of a kidnapped child.
