  • Excellent story about enforcing the law of the lan

I truly enjoyed this story of establishing and enforcing the law of the kingdom even when the opposing powers try to use it against you. This was brilliantly written. You'll be amazed at the easy flow of the story. You'll never regret purchasing this book.

  • Court intrigue rather than pitched battles

Burden of the Crown I feel is a setting of scene, whereafter some fairly previous helter skelter episodes, it is a settling in book. The young queen is setting her stall out and making some important decisions of state as a result this book is more about court intrigue than pitched battles and conquest. So if you like some fairly thoughtful plots with twists and turns this book is for you. What I will be interested to read is the next book as there is surely a gathering storm in the offing with hopefully a bit of blood and guts.

  • Setting the scene for more

Good accounting of the Anna's first days establishing her role as queen. The intrigue and machinations of her opposition set the stage for more stories as she solidifies her place and right to rule. This book definitely does set the scene for more....

  • Battles on the field, battles in the court.

The story continues with Anna, Gerald and their entourage. Anna has won the Throne. Thinking the worst has passed, along comes new struggles now she is Queen. Anna now wants to implement some radical changes which splits the traditional hierarchy. The past catches up with Gerald in order to place a wedge between him and Anna being a plan to destroy the new ruler. Can't help thinking the problems Anna faces being Queen mirrors the fortitude Queen Elizabeth I had to face when she was Crowned. Again Paul turns a corner in the story along a new road, and that is what makes this whole story interesting. It changes, it grows and this keeps your interest intact. Can't say enough about this series, may long will it continue.
