  • A Very Fishy Mystery

Sir John Cranston and Friar Athelstan, the indefatigable pair, are on the trail of two mysteries. Set in 13th century London, we feel immersed in the stinking streets, chaotic crowds and mountainous refuse piles. One mystery is the case of stolen goods and a murdered serving girl, in a house fully locked up while the merchant is away. The servants saw and heard nothing. The second mystery concerns the strange disappearance of three watchmen on the cog, God’s Bright Light, anchored on the Thames. They find the Captain has been poisoned, and the ship’s owner is murdered the next day. These events take Cranston & Athelstan down to the stinking wharves of London to uncover a web of intrigue. Paul Dougherty spins another fascinating tale that kept me guessing to the end.
