    Great

Some parts are really sad but the ending makes up for that.

So much more than the film...

I bought this book to read on holiday to Cephallonia, thinking it would be nice to read something set on the island. I had watched the film fairly recently, but it was years since I had read the book, and I was completely gripped. This tranquil and beautiful island that I am sunning myself on has seen unimaginable horror and destruction even within living memory. The book has given me a feel for the island that no guidebook could have provided.

    SO GOOD.

It's a masterpiece of the complicated nature of human relationships. I loved it. Reading it was like reading Hemingway, but with way better female characters.

    Spellbinding

An epic weaving of amazing characterisation with history. I feel like I went through the war with Pelegia and Corelli. Enjoy.
