    Cardinal

Excellent for readability. Obviously deeply researched but only the abdoluty necessary facts set out. Always aware there is more below the surface. This is a difficult issue presented by the author in a balanced and factual way. Heartbreakingly honest.

    Hell’s Pells

Milligan has written a very readable book which is hard to put down. She doesn’t sensationalise, she doesn’t try to force the reader’s opinions. She takes us on the journey she has taken and delivers the information she found as it arrived. Like the men and women she encounters, she is credible, empathetic and sincere. Understandably, she does address the arguments of the detractors who have been very vocal across all media. That seems both fair and sensible given the extent of reach of those arguments. Mulligan shows us how the institutional structure has reinforced the power imbalance against children and why changes to this structure must be made to protect those who can be victimised and those trying to protect potential victims. Well worth reading.
