  • Heartwarming Christmas Story

I throughly enjoyed learning about some real history and actual places among the fiction in the pages of Christmas in Carnton. Set during the time of the Civil War in Franklin, Tenn, the lives of so many people were greatly affected by personal loss and financial strains. I felt like I was right there with Aletta Prescott, feeling her pain at the loss of her husband during the war. Her struggle in being pregnant and a widow and trying to take care of her young son was only exacerbated by the loss of her job as well as the bank foreclosing on her home. As she seeks employment at the Carnton mansion from an ad she saw, an injured soldier, Jake Winston, also shows up to assist with an auction to raise money for the cause. He would much rather be back with his regiment but his superior officer has removed him from his duties because of his injury to his shoulder and his vision that was impaired. These characters were a delight to get to know along with others but especially Tempy. She added a whole new light on all the goings on at Carnton. You must follow along to the end. There's a surprise and a new direction for Aletta and Jake to travel to help the wounded soldiers. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher but was not required to write a review.

    Thanks for your feedback!
